Unplugged and Loving Life
On Saturday morning we packed up and headed out to my aunt and uncle’s lake place. They are always so gracious about having family and friends visit and I look forward to going out there every year. For a little flash back fun you can check out my post from last year’s visit.
This year I ended up being fairly unplugged–from phone, internet, camera, and TV. It was accidental at first but then I realized how great it felt and decided to leave my phone and my camera alone for the rest of the weekend. It was the best decision I could have made.
I enjoyed every second of our weekend away.
Saturday’s weather definitely wasn’t what we had hoped for. It was about 60°F and cloudy, but instead of moping around we ended up playing yard games all day, playing a game of basketball, taking a bundled up ride on the pontoon, sitting by the fire, eating delicious food, singing, and enjoying each others company completely.
When we woke up on Sunday morning the sun was shining and the air was crisp. We all cozied up around the campfire with our coffees and eventually the air warmed up enough for us to catch a few sun rays down on the dock. The highly anticipated and sun felt better than ever!
We hung out for a few hours in the sun, relaxing, snacking, and reading magazines before needing to pack up and head back home.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again a million times, I have the most incredible family a girl could ever ask for. I adore spending time with all of them. How did I get so lucky?!
I didn’t snap one photo while at the cabin. I didn’t check email or facebook or twitter. I unplugged and savored every moment, and it was exactly what this little girl needed. I realize it was just for a day but even that made such an impact on me. It makes you realize how attached we really are to our phones, social media, internet, and the TV. It’s nice to give it a break now and then.
When is the last time you unplugged?
Love your life! You only live once.
